Hello! My name is Gloria Hopkins. I was originally born in York, Pennsylvania, but my family moved to Delaware when I was two years old. For as long as I can remember, I have always loved drawing since I was able to hold a pencil in my hand. I would grab any piece of material I could find, whether it was printing paper or a napkin, and I was content to draw quietly for hours on end.

As I was growing up, I attended Seaford Christian Academy, where I would often get in trouble for drawing during class or on the pages of my textbooks. Drawing was always my personal escape to be anywhere I wanted when I thought the real world around me was too boring. Even when I was younger, I thought it was so amazing to have the power to create whatever I wanted!

When I was eight years old, I began taking private art lessons from a lady named Mrs. Nancy LaPrad, who taught children in her art studio that was located upstairs in her home. She taught me many different techniques about drawing that helped me advance past the most basic beginning stages of art. After a few years of taking private art lessons, I eventually stopped, but I never lost my love for art and using my imagination.

I attended Pensacola Christian College from fall 2011 to fall 2015, where I majored in Studio Art with an English minor. As a student there, my knowledge of the fundamentals of art and design increased, and I gained the abilities necessary to effectively portray the pictures I came up with inside my head.

Ever since I was little, God helped me realize that my love of storybooks filled with pictures meant that He wanted me to become a children’s author and illustrator. It is my desire to accurately represent the words I write with the pictures I draw. My only wish is to do my vivid imagination justice, while at the same time bring honor and glory to God through the talent He’s given me.
